I've been running Windows64bit as my primary for 6 months. Only because I was working on some fla transforms. XP64 sucks royally. Not that it's all XP's own fault. You just expect more than you get.
What you get is Windows drivers you can't install, probably also unavailable on other OSes. Your expectation gets lifted but then dashed. Windows is too generic a term. On X64 distros (Linux & BSD) you get a list to choose from, not a web to search so one's restrictions don't feel so restrictive (ho, hum not too much sense :) - Flash & sound always seem to be the killers!
8Gb of RAM is looking like an overspend if I can't find a decent 64bit OS. I hopt BSD64 is a winner 'cos that's next!
Record of some of the computer tech I deal with so that it's documented at least somewhere.

X100P.com
I took delivery of a S100 FX POTS / Asterisk gateway. I'm the first customer ! How lucky for me. I was a bit quick off the mark and didn;t notice it was a LAN/WAN gateway as well, not sure what that's all about, I've already got a gateway!
First problem is the user guide crashes xpdf so I've got to find another machine to read the instructions with.

I could crush SELinux' grapes !
Over an hour of this :
warning: SASL authentication failure: cannot connect to saslauthd server: Permission denied
Aug 2 15:31:29 imap2 postfix/smtpd[31915]: warning: [127.0.0.1]: SASL LOGIN authentication failed: generic failure
when /var/run/sasauthd/mux was 777'd
was caused by this
Aug 2 15:31:31 imap2 setroubleshoot: SELinux is preventing /usr/libexec/postfix/smtpd (postfix_smtpd_t) "write" to saslauthd (saslauthd_var_run_t). For complete SELinux messages. run sealert -l 0e32e002-b7a7-4939-832d-e32d6336730b
Who needs file permissions when you've got SELinux !!!
