Gateway magic is strangely hard, even "import gateway /net /net" is only half the story. You have to get your trampoline out iirc.

OK first stab in the eye
sysctl has net.ipv4.ip_forward=1 AND net.ipv4.conf.default.forwarding=1
that look to have the same effect. I'm going to go with the one not documented because I follow the crowd.
bah, the iptables works as a gateway but port forwarding is failing :(
